New art from old photos

This is my first post on my website.   This picture was taken on a trip to Chicago 6 years ago.  I had to wait for just that right moment to snap the picture with no one crossing the bridge.

This is one of the many bridges that span the Chicago Riverwalk.   I shot this picture with a Nikon D200.

Recently, while wading through my images I rediscovered this photo.  The original colorized version was pretty flat.  So, I decided to desaturate, increase the contrast, then added a touch of graininess.  Finally,  I decided that by accenting the red of the iron work in direct contrast to the harsh shadows, I could draw the viewer into the picture.

There you have it, new art from an old photo.  Enjoy!
